Palmer, Roy H.

Palmer, Roy Herbert passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington on November 1, 2017 at the age of 90.
Beloved husband to Monika Helga (Ehlers) Palmer for 47 years and previously for 19 years to Pamela Anne (Clemes) King. Loving father of David Palmer (Debbie), Lynne Walters, Dianne Clegg (Steve), Gayle Murphy (Bill), Kimberly Lloyd (Jonathan), and Tamara Hutter (Steve). Survived by his sister-in-law Ellen Ehlers of Kelowna, B.C. Loving Opa to Jacqui, Keri, Jeremy, Shannon, Shaun, Amanda, Nicole, Kristen, Lauren, William, Justin, Colton, Brock, and to great grandchildren, Ashton and Lachlan. Uncle Roy will be missed by nieces Patricia, (Tim), Sabrina, (Ron), nephews Bruce, Larry, (Sheri), Glen, Mark, (Deepa), Jason, and many good friends. Predeceased by brother Douglas Roy Palmer (2007) and sister Kathleen Georgina Walker (2016).
In his younger years Roy was an avid paddler and loved sailing at the Toronto Sailing & Canoe Club where he also played football as a running back. He was give the nickname "Snake" because he was small and fast! Roy loved numbers, choosing a career as a self-employed Business Administrator for over 50 years! The energy he applied to his long career as a diverse businessman made many life-long friends. Vacations south were great fun over the years and he always enjoyed his special Canada Day birthday parties especially his fabulous 40, nifty 50, sexy 60, heavenly 70, greatly 80, and 90th! Fine dinners, parties, and friends were celebrated and enjoyed with good wine! Roy never complained and was always a gentleman. He was a jokester, a cookie monster, and he loved his veggies too!
Special thanks for the compassion and care received over the years from Dr. McGhee and to Dr. Spadafora, the nurses and volunteers at Hospice Wellington in Guelph.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Roy's Life will be held at the Puslinch Community Centre in Aberfoyle, 12-3 pm, on November 20, 2017.
As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Wellington or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.

A tree will be planted in memory of Roy H. Palmer in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:30 pm.
