LAMONT, E. John - Passed away peacefully, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Complex Care, Guelph, Ontario, on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the age of 83.
John is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Florence Lamont, his sister Patricia Schofield and his brother, Joseph Lamont.
John is survived by his loving wife Patricia (nee Pembleton) of 62 years. They were married in Guelph, on October 1, 1955.
John is lovingly remembered by his wife Patricia; brother Paul (Bernice) Lamont of Guelph; daughters, Kimberley (Al) Gayed of London and Kelley (Dan) Sykes, of Stratford; grandchildren, Shannon Sommerauer Douma (Randy Douma), of Ottawa, Lindsay Sommerauer (John Suschkov), Megan Sykes (Jamie Groves), of Ottawa and Andrew Gayed, of London; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Jacob Douma and Arlo and Remi Sommerkov; brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
John was born in Toronto, Ontario on October 8, 1934. He worked as a machinist at Imperial Tobacco Co. for 33 years.
John loved everything about nature and made sure to pass his love onto his children and grandchildren. He also instilled the importance of being, kind, patient and respectful of others. He was also an avid golfer and bowler. He loved music that spoke to his heart and movies that did the same. His greatest joy came from being with his family; his wife ("his girl"), his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Of his many places he loved, Ocean Park, Maine was his favourite place to be. Sharing that time there with his family, was his heaven on earth.
A celebration of John's life was held at WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Ontario on Saturday, November 25th at 10:30 am with Rev. Johan Olivier officiating.
The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff and doctors of the Complex Care Wing, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Your kindness and patience shown to John will long be remembered.
