Stuart, Louise M.

Louise Stuart, May 2, 1948 - December 7, 2017
It will not surprise Louiseā€™s friends and family that she did not go gently into that good night. Louise was the proud mother of David Stuart and the much-loved partner and spouse of Karen Wendling. She is survived by them, her sister and brother-in-law Claire and Bill Kyle, uncle and aunt John and Grace Gagne, and numerous friends across the province.

Louise was a long-time activist in feminist, LGBTQ+, anti-poverty, and social justice movements in Oshawa, Sault Ste. Marie, London, Guelph, and Toronto. Sometimes she got paid for her work, though never well. She believed in creating a better and fairer world, one person at a time. But this is the most important thing: Louise loved Karen and Karen loved Louise.

A memorial service will be held at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. (reception to follow 6-7 p.m.).
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The First Nations Child & Family Caring Society of Canada or to The Mennonite Central Committee of Canada's refugee sponsorship program.
A tree will be planted in memory of Louise M. Stuart in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:30 pm.
