FOLTZ, Jane “Jean” Simpson (nee Watt) – April 16, 1927 – February 14, 2018 (her Father’s birthday), in her 91st year, passed away unexpectedly at Wellington Terrace, Fergus from complications of COPD.
Predeceased by her husband of almost 60 years, John (February 15, 2005) from complications of COPD, her parents Robert and Catherine (nee Chalmers). Jean will be forever missed by her cherished daughter, Gail Dyson. Predeceased, far too soon, by her beloved, eldest sister Margaret (1982) (late Angus) Dickieson and brothers Thomas (late Ruth) and Robert (Rob) (late Anne Dmetriuc). Survived by her sister, Catherine and many nieces and nephews.
Mom started working in Guelph at Colonial Dresses, then Textile Industries on Farquhar Street for over 30 years as a Floor Supervisor. Her motto as a supervisor was always “treat others as you would have them treat you”. She was well respected by all who worked with her.
Mom and Dad enjoyed 20 years of boating on the Trent-Severn Waterway (1960-1980), first in Port Severn, then in Atherley. In retirement (1981), it was “have home, will travel” in a 35’ 5th wheel trailer, wintering in the Bradenton area of Florida, summering in the Green Acres Trailer Park, Bobcaygeon. In 1999, they returned to Guelph due to health issues and to be closer to family.
Mom was an enthusiastic baseball fan, first Montreal Expos, then Toronto Blue Jays. She enjoyed her “game” conversations with her brother, Rob, very much. Mom was an avid reader, especially of murder mysteries and was obsessed with CNN in later years. She, too, was also an amazing euchre and crib player.
Thank you to Dr. Stickney and the amazing, wonderful staff of Apple Valley Neighbourhood, Wellington Terrace for your care of Mom.
