Simons, Johanna

SIMONS, Johanna -
The sun was shining and the sky was a beautiful blue on April the 26th when Johanna Simons passed away peacefully with family by her side. Loving Mother to Luke, Jake and Sam; playful Granny to Abby, Léon, Shayle, Matilda and Elle; Mother-in law to Hélène, Zoe and Sarah; sister to Les, Duncan, Cathy and Geoff; friend to many.
Johanna lit up every room she entered and brought joy and laughter to those she met. She loved talking to people and never passed up a chance to dance! She was a lover of the outdoors, whether sailing Lake Ontario or watching the sunset in Port Elgin. She loved her pets and indeed all animals with a special fondness for rescuing dogs in need.
Johanna ran many of her own businesses including St. Jacob’s Mennonite Quilts in St. Jacobs and Swanee River Outpost in Stratford. She would have been honoured to know that a donation in her name was given to the World Wildlife Federation, The Humane Society or The Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life at the Aberfoyle Mill on Sunday, May 27th from 11-2pm. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 519-822-0051 or

A tree will be planted in memory of Johanna Simons in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:30 pm.
