FIRTH, Beatrice Boyd -
98, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, on Thursday, July 5th, 2018. Bea was a wonderful and devoted wife to Daniel Joseph, for 54 years. She is survived by her six loving children and their spouses, Marion Firth (Winnipeg), Peter (Laurel) (London), Kathleen (Edmonton), David (Jane) (North Carolina), Naomi Klaas (Jim) (Guelph), and Lois Macdonnell (Cameron) (Newmarket). She had 20 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 3 more great grandchildren on the way.
Bea began her career as a dietitian in the Air Force during World War II. During her whole career she managed large hospital dietary services, worked as a community dietitian, raised a large family and was intensely involved in Christian ministry and mentoring.
Bea was a very spirited and exceptionally good woman, who touched the lives of so many. Her kind and loving heart, and her incredibly generous spirit are a testament to her strong faith and deep love of the Lord. She had a very strong sense of justice, fair play and protection of the vulnerable and supported many efforts that put the Gospel into practice in her community and globally.
She loved life and passed on her love of creation and any dog which crossed her path to her children and grandchildren. She actively promoted good fun, doing one’s best and contributing to the lives of those around you.
She will be missed dearly by her family and many friends as she was welcomed with joy and celebration by those who’ve awaited her in heaven.
The celebration of her life is at Kortright Presbyterian Church, 55 Devere Dr., Guelph at 11 a.m. on Saturday July 7, with visitation at 10 am.
We are so appreciative of the care of family, friends, church and health professionals. Any gifts in memory of Bea may be sent to the charity of your choice.
