LEMIEUX, Annette Therese (Drouin) -
On Sunday, August 26, 2018, Annette Lemieux passed away at 92 years of age.
Annette was born in Ottawa, Ontario on September 19, 1925, to Joseph Arthur Maurille Drouin and Marie Therese Drouin (nee Dubois). She and her younger brother Herve were raised and educated in the Ottawa-Hull area and enjoyed extended family gatherings at the Drouin cottage on Grand Lake in the Gatineau.
On July 16, 1949, Annette married Hubert Edmond Lemieux of Ottawa. The couple worked for the Canadian Diplomatic Corps in Argentina (where their son Marc was born), The Phillipines, New York, Ottawa and Spain. Annette was fluent in French, English and Spanish. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, and playing bridge. As a representative of Canada abroad, Annette hosted many social events and functions for the international diplomatic community. She returned to Ottawa in 1978 and worked for the House of Commons before retiring in 1991. In 2011 she moved to Guelph, Ontario to be closer to her family.
Annette was preceded in death by her mother, Therese, her father, Maurille, her brother, Herve Drouin, her husband, Hubert Lemieux, and her dear friend, Robert Lapointe.
Annette's positive attitude, humour and sweetness will be missed by her son, Marc Lemieux (Katherine Wheatley), her grandchildren Leah Lemieux (Malcolm Wright), Anne-Marie Lemieux (Stuart Kelly ), Martin Lemieux (Emily Lancaster), her great-granddaughter Adelaide Lemieux, and the staff at the Elliott Community who took good care of her in her final years. When asked how she was doing Annette always said, "I can't complain."
A quiet and informal memorial was held by her close family.
Her ashes will be placed with those of her parents at Notre Dame cemetery in Hull, Quebec.
