Lona Jane Buck passed away early the morning of Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in Guelph, Ontario. Born March 7, 1933 in Nanaimo, BC, in her later years Lona and her dog Nikki became an inseparable pair. The two were great companions to each other and were often found out and about the neighborhood of Silvercreek Parkway North. Getting to know her grandchildren was something of great pleasure to her and she truly treasured hearing of their life experiences as they grew into adults. Lona also loved her outings around Ontario in search of birds and the enjoyment of the out of doors with her dear friend Bev.
Lona had the opportunity to discover the world and lived in BC, Quebec, Ontario, Oregon, Alabama and Vietnam before settling into the family cottage at Lake Bellwood prior to making her home in Guelph. Throughout her life she was a teacher of both children at their early stages of life and English to those wanting to improve that skill in Canada and Vietnam.
Lona is survived by her sister Beverly, her three children Janet (Chris), Paul (Flora) and Neil (Cynthia) as well as four grandchildren, Siobhan, Sarah, Jeremy and Emma. In addition to many other caring relatives, close friends and neighbours. Lona was predeceased by her parents, Mona and Joseph Wilson of Nanaimo, BC, her daughter Leslie Buck and her beloved companion, Nikki.
There will be a celebration of life for Lona on Saturday, November the 17th from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at the Victoria Park East Golf Club at 1096 Victoria Rd S, Guelph, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in remembrance of Lona would be much appreciated.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Guelph General Hospital and her friends that cared for her during her final days.
