MISKUCZA, Yolanda Barbara
(nee Duris) –
Formerly of Guelph, ON passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, ON in her 90th year. Loving wife of Koriolan (Kori) George of 54 years, and much devoted mother of Kori Steven Miskucza, Architect (Sonia) of Mississauga, ON. Beloved aunt to Mark Filo (Dana) of Guelph, the late Karen Filo of Ottawa and Diane Matyas of Waterloo and great aunt to Alex Matyas of London, ON. She was predeceased by her parents Barbara (nee Mogyorody) and Steve Duris of Welland, and by her husband Kori of Guelph.
Born and raised in Welland, ON, Yolanda (Yola) was a deeply vibrate member of Welland’s Hungarian culture and community. Yola moved to Toronto where she spent her early years working in administration for British Petroleum. She met her husband Kori in Toronto and together they decided to move to Guelph, where they spent most of their years.
In addition to raising a family in Guelph, Yola was active in her community for over 40 years as a volunteer of the Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington, having various Hungarian home-cooking recipes published, achieving a certificate in wine-making from Conestoga College, as well as an active participant in several other social organizations across Guelph. Yola was loved by everyone, her door was always open. Yola always took time to care for people and show her affection, a true inspiration to all in showing through action what it means to be a truly good human being.
Family and friends will be received at Wall Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk Street in Guelph for visitations on August 15 from 7PM–9PM and August 16 from 10AM-11AM, and a Memorial Service on August 16 at 11AM, followed by refreshments. Burial interment will take place on Friday, August 16 at 1:30PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 762 Woolwich Street in Guelph.
