Levett, Ralph G.

LEVETT, Ralph -
Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Wellington Hospice on Monday, August 12, 2019 at the age 84. The beloved husband of Enid (née Marshall), and loved father of Karen, David (Amanda), Dennis (Erika). Ralph was the loving Grandpa and Papa of six grandchildren: Kari (Collin), Cameron (Jacquelynn), Stephanie, Shannon, Nadia and Nicholas and Great Grandpa to Turner and Dixon.

He is predeceased by his parents, George and Ada and brother Dennis. Left to remember Ralph in fondness are his numerous cherished friends, in particular the Ward and Fisher families who also made the long journey to Canada from England in the 1960’s to raise their families.

Ralph was born in Blackpool, England on March 19 1935 Ralph, Enid, Karen and David moved to Canada in October 1965. He never shied away from hard work and long hours to support his growing family which had grown by one more with the birth of Dennis in 1967. Ralph enjoyed many careers over the years; trades person, prison guard, butcher, general store owner, and President of Red Top Taxi.

Ralph had many interests, he enjoyed fishing, travelling, wood working, photography and camping with his family and friends. Later in life Ralph and Enid took to travelling Canada by rail, seeing both coasts this way and everything in between.

Ralph’s greatest love was his family. He was an affectionate and active father to his three children and supportive and loving husband to Enid, whom he would say was his perfect mate. Ralph was unabashed in his pride for his kids, working stories about them into any conversation he had. When the grandchildren came, they gave Ralph another generation of Levett’s to garner his love and pride. This unconditional love, as well as his generous nature, wit, and humour will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered by his family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Grace Morrison and the nurses and staff on the 5th and 7th floors of the Guelph General Hospital who welcomed us and accommodated our family. We would also like to thank the wonderful Staff and volunteers at Hospice Wellington who guided us through Ralph’s final days.

Cremation has taken place. A private service was held for Ralph at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, Guelph with his immediate family. Here a wonderfully crafted and comforting service was provided by the Rev Emmy Beauchamp. If you so wish, a donation in Ralph’s memory to the GGH or Hospice Wellington would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of Ralph G. Levett in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 2:30 pm.
