TAYLOR, Margaret Edna “Marg” - “I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever”

Margaret died peacefully in her sleep in her 101st year at Hospice Wellington.

Born in 1919 to Ada and Alfred Laking in Freelton Ontario, she married in 1942 and was predeceased by her beloved husband James “Jimmy” Taylor, daughter Nancy MacPherson and grandson David Dewees. She is greatly missed by her children Donald Taylor (Lyn), Ann Dewees (Don), Son-in-Law Greg MacPherson; grandchildren: Christy Gomme (Steve), Katie Misener (Mike), Jamie MacPherson, Jonathan Dewees (Sarah), and six great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Doris Harper and predeceased by brothers Leslie and Roy Laking and Ross Harper.

Margaret graduated in 1939 from MacDonald Institute, now part of the University of Guelph. She was a dietitian and an avid seamstress. She loved nice clothes and looking smart. Margaret loved theatre, music and singing in church and community choirs. She was an energetic volunteer especially at Knox Presbyterian Church where she was an active long-time member. She enjoyed time with the family at her cottage on Paudash Lake where she canoed until she was 90. Dinner celebrations with the family gathered were a delight. She had a deep faith and was a loving, determined and courageous woman.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Knox Church, at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Knox Church or the Arboretum at University of Guelph.

A tree will be planted in memory of Margaret E. Taylor in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 2:30 pm.
