K. Rebecca (Becky) Holmes -
With broken hearts we have said goodbye to our beloved Becky on April 24, 2020 at Hospice Wellington, Guelph, ON. Becky was born June 17, 1954 in Owen Sound, ON to Milton and Yvonne (Shouldice) Holmes (both predeceased).
Becky loved the outdoors and sports - she loved baseball, racquetball, tennis and skiing. After finishing high school, she decided on a nursing career and attended McMaster University in Hamilton to obtain her BScN. In 1977, upon graduation she started her nursing career in Nelson B.C. at Kootenay Lake District Hospital. In 1980 she returned to Ontario and started at Sudbury Memorial Hospital in the Cardiology Unit, where she remained until her retirement in 2011.
Becky was loved by many and leaves to mourn her passing, her life partner Ann Cunningham of Guelph, ON (formerly of Sudbury, ON) her brother Mike (Lori) of Welland, nephew Jay Holmes (Nathasha) and his children, Elliott and Elsie of Ottawa, niece Julie Holmes of Hamilton, her “sister” Dinah Hardy of Welland, Ann’s children, Dan and Jennifer Cunningham of Guelph, Scott and Kelly Cunningham of Espanola, and her beloved granddaughters Imogen and Hazel who loved their Grandma Becky so much.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Bayshore Nurses, Laura and Leeanne for being so caring of Becky when she was at home, and to all the staff at Hospice Wellington for their loving care of our Becky in the last week of her life. Your kindness, care and respect shone through every day and we knew our Becky was in good hands.
As per Becky’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at a future time. Becky will be placed to rest with her parents in Eastnor Cemetery, Lion’s Head, ON.
