Butler, Diane M.

BUTLER, Diane Marie -
October 5, 1954 – May 2, 2020

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Diane Marie Butler. After a hard-fought battle with cancer, she passed at home with her loving partner by her side.

Survived by her partner, shipmate and the love of her life, Jan Stolk. Mother of Karl Butler and Angela Leckie (Sean), and stepmom to Wendy Taylor (Joe) and Linda Simek (Jamie). Grandmother of Sheldon, Tyler (Lauren), Reanna (Dustin), Brenna, Mya, Brooke, Hunter, Emma and Amelia. Great-Grandmother of Connor, Adler, Nash and Kathleen. Loving sister of Donnie, Debora, Donna (Larry), David (Cindy), Dennis (Laurie) and Doreen (Ron), and loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Don Muir (Joyce) and Dorothy Murphy (Tom).

Diane was born and raised in Cambridge and worked very hard throughout her life. After retiring from driving school bus, she became loyal shipmate to Jan, as they sailed on many adventures on “The Hippo”, often for many months at a time. Anyone that knew her will remember her smile, her boldness and her fearlessness in speaking her mind. Diane had a vivacious personality and enjoyed the occasional glass of white wine with friends. She was kind, loving and generous throughout her life. She will forever be remembered in our hearts and memories.

A private internment and cremation have taken place. The family hopes to hold a celebration of Diane’s life at a later date.
