MacFARLANE, Joy Elinor (nee Billing) -
It is with great sadness that we announce that our mother, Joy Elinor MacFarlane, has transitioned from the body into the soul world. She passed away peacefully in her own home on Saturday September 5th, 2020 after being surrounded by family for the previous week. She had been in frail condition and in hospital since a fall in April. We had just brought her home at the end of August.
Joy, or Joya as she preferred, is survived by her three children – Iris Hart, Jack Folland, and Lawrence Folland and her step-daughter Renee Jaramek. She is predeceased by her step-son Cameron MacFarlane. She will be missed by her 14 grand-children - Kyle and Aaron Hart, David and Nicole Folland, Eric, Alex and Adam Folland, Dara Semedo, Ashley and Lindsay MacFarlane, Cyrus and Dezirée DeGroot, Jazzmine Joy Jaramek and Conan Courtney, plus her 8 great-grandchildren - Cole Hart, Kirsten-Lynn Van Kooten, Kadence and Emilee Folland, Sara Werbowsky, Jacob Campeau, Jackson Semedo and Kai Folland.
Joya will be missed by her friends at the Riverside Residence in Guelph and her travel companions on the trips organized by the Evergreen Seniors Centre.
Joya loved gardening and was very involved in the creation of the Enabling Garden in Riverside Park where she has a plaque for her, her mother Violet and her daughter Iris. She was interested in many aspects of spirituality. She loved animals and wildlife. She also loved jazz music, especially Chet Baker, Jeff Buckley and Michael Kaeshammer. She was a supporter of CJRT Jazz in Toronto.
We would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Health Centre who were so kind to her during her stay there and the staff at Peace of Mind and ParaMed who took care of her when she was back home.
Services entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL and we will have a private burial in October at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, anyone is invited to support a cause that mom was passionate about – the Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. She had supported them for many years and Lawrence was able to take her to visit in May 2019. Donations can be made in her memory at this web site: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/3604
We thank everyone for their offers of comfort and support. It is all very much appreciated.
~ Iris, Jack, and Lawrence
