Walmsley, George A.

WALMSLEY, George Alexander - George was born in Enfield in Greater London England on 23rd August 1950 son of George Alexander Walmsley and Joan Malloch Walmsley (nee Napier) and younger brother of Charles Walmsley (deceased) and Robert Malloch Walmsley. Because both his mother and father were born in Scotland George was Scottish. The family moved around quite a lot and so George was educated at various schools but mostly at Wesley College in Belize in Central America. At age 16 George joined The London Metropolitan Police Force as a Cadet and progressed through to Sergeant before he retired at age 50. While he was in the Police, in 1994, he received a Commissioners Commendation for bravery for pursuing a criminal armed with a gun while he himself was unarmed. He also assisted with the arrest. In 2000 George immigrated to Guelph in Ontario where he lived a quiet life. George passed away in Toronto Western Hospital on 16th September 2020.

Cremation has taken place and due to COVID-19 restrictions, the service will be postponed to a later date.

A tree will be planted in memory of George A. Walmsley in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
