Kraus, Ruby N.

Kraus, Ruby Nicole - It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our sweet babygirl, Ruby Nicole Kraus, who died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the far too young age of 17 months old.

Ruby is survived by her Mama and Dada (Andrea and Greg) and the very best big brother in the whole wide world Zakery. As well as Grandma Bas (Uncle Bill), Grandma Judy, Grandpa Jim (Carole), Grandpa Stan, Uncle Dan, Auntie Shila, cousins Tuesday and Zoe, and the Douglas family. She will be lovingly remembered by neighbours on Elson Drive, especially her quanranteaming family The Groenevelds, who brought her enormous joy this summer (Ms Josina, Mr Dave, Landon, Jonas, Brett, Wavy, and Des). And missed by her new friends at the Montessori Academy Learning Centre.

As a toddler with a larger than life personality, Ruby loved: walks and hikes, climbing on anything, rolling across everything, slides (especially the green one at Royal City Park), splash pads, beach days at Rockwood, picnics, Boathouse ice cream, bike rides in the Chariot beside her brother, the backyard sandbox (both for playing with and eating sand), destroying block and Lego masterpieces, destroying sand creations, not sharing, eating off others' plates (even if she had the exact same food in front of her), bedtime stories in Zak's room, and following her brother around and doing whatever he was doing.

During a recent bedtime, we read The Memory Tree by Britta Teckentrup. The very best big brother in the whole wide world, Zakery, decided it would be a good idea to get a tree planted near the river with "one of those cement blocks" and the words "Always Remember Ruby." Please keep an eye out for Ruby's red maple which will be planted in the Spring near the river.

At the future location of Ruby's tree, a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 1:30pm at Royal City Park (near the corner of Gordon St and Water St). With ice cream to follow at the Boathouse after the service. If you will be attending the service in person, please use the Google sign-in to sign up. Please RSVP by Monday, November 2, 2020. Contact tracing and Covid protocols will be followed.

For those not able to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed. Arrangements entrusted to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com – Condolences can be sent via funeral home website below Ruby’s notice.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the City of Guelph's tree planting fund. Ruby loved being outside more than anything else and we know she would have loved more trees in her community.

A tree will be planted in memory of Ruby N. Kraus in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
