Prearranging Your Funeral or Cremation Services
At Wall Custance Funeral Home & Chapel this can be done without any advance payment required.
Prearranging your final wishes provides you with the opportunity to decide the type of services you prefer and outline instructions for your final arrangements, as well as recording the basic information that is required at time of death. A prearrangement also serves as a guide to family and friends, informing them of your wishes. That foresight can be invaluable in a time of stress and preplanning can save needless misunderstanding and expense. Any type of funeral or cremation service can be prearranged and this can be done at the funeral home or in the convenience of your own home, if you prefer. A record of your wishes will be kept on file for future reference and may be revised upon request. We would caution against only recording your wishes in your will. It is often not possible to have the will available when needed. Your family or executor should be notified of any preferences and where your prearrangement have been made.
When you discuss a prearranged funeral with our licensed professionals, it is your opportunity to ask questions and get clear, concise answers. It is the time to be sure you fully understand what services are performed and why, and the costs associated.
BEFORE YOU PREARRANGE, YOU CAN
- Talk over your thoughts regarding end-of-life planning with your family and those who will be left. Remember that while the funeral may be about the deceased, the service and ritual is for the benefit of the survivors. Your religious beliefs, your cultural and family traditions and your values can all be part of this discussion.
- Discuss your spiritual needs with your clergy, minister, rabbi, etc., to ensure that religious beliefs will be accommodated.
- Ask others about the services or experiences they've had at local funeral homes. Ask them what funeral home they used and how satisfied they were with the service received.
- Talk to the area funeral directors. Funeral Directors are professionals who sincerely want to offer quality services to meet the needs of those they serve. They are open to honest and frank discussions about your thoughts and wishes regarding funeral arrangements
