McNEILL, Angela – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Angela McNeill (nee Sparkes) of Guelph, ON on January 23, 2024 in Cambridge, ON.
Born in Wisbech, England on March 13, 1943 to parents Winston and Ida Genevieve Sparkes (nee Hatley), Angela grew up in St. John’s, NL before moving to Winnipeg, MB. There she met her strength and stay Alex, whom she leaves to mourn after 50 years of steadfast devotion.
Settling in Guelph, ON, Angela was a caring and loving mother to her sons Craig and Alan, and daughters-in-law Bianca and Jennifer. Angela’s favourite title however was “Nana” to her cherished grandchildren, Hunter, Keagen, Preston, Isabella and Ian. Also left to mourn are Angela’s younger brother Richard (Kathy), niece Anna (Chris) and nephew Benjamin (Eleanor), in addition to her extended family in Canada and the United Kingdom.
From her earliest days working at CN in St. John’s, to her last days working at the Guelph General Hospital, Angela always put others ahead of herself, never shying to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, or a delicious treat to anyone in need. Angela lit up every room with her warmth, humour and generosity of spirit. She leaves behind many close friends who can find solace in their fond memories, and in the certainty that their lives are all the richer for having known Angela in this mortal life. May she find comfort and peace in the next.
The family would like to thank the staff of Guelph General Hospital and Lisaard House for their care, compassion and support.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on February 6, 2024 at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Lisaard House in Cambridge, ON.
