Gilpin, Audrey – passed away at the Guelph General Hospital on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in her 92nd year.
Beloved wife of the late Peter Gilpin. Dear mother to Krista (Steve), Chanda, and John. Loving Nana to Pete. Predeceased by siblings Bill (Rene), “Madge” Marjorie Jenny (George), John (Dorene), and Ron (Kitty). Audrey will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A full-time mother, regardless of any other work she was doing, Audrey couldn’t help but look after the people in her life. Warm, kind, and generous, she consistently offered support to others in many ways, including through food and drink, a listening ear, and humour when needed to lighten the mood. Creative in the kitchen, she was an excellent cook and baker, and did her best to pass on her wisdom and knowledge to those of us who don’t know how big exactly a “knob of butter” is. Clever and quick-witted, she completed mental math in the time it took most of us just to pick up a pen to start writing out the equations. Audrey enjoyed travelling and exploring new places. She also loved spending time with family and friends, chatting and playing games with a gin and tonic on hand.
A visitation will be held at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 12pm to 1pm. A service will be held at 1pm in the funeral home chapel. If you are unable to attend in person but wish to watch the service remotely, please use this YouTube link. A reception will follow the service in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre.
