WORDOCK, Barbara Helen – Born in Hamilton, Ontario, daughter of George and Dorothy (Blanche) Wordock, at the age of 69 years old, stitched her last half double crochet in Guelph on September 10th, 2023.
Once reaching the infamous rainbow bridge, she was likely mobbed by all the dogs she had ever met and owned, all of whom loved her yummy peanut butter dog cookies (one of the few things besides banana bread she actually could cook). Barb proved that ‘Blondes did have more fun’ when, at the age of 60, she raced her daughter’s father-in-law down 35 foot high waterslides and swam with sharks and stingrays. If she were to speak of achievements, Barb likely made the ‘Person of interest list’ from all of the protests and rally’s she attended because she was always game to do anything with her daughter Krysta. Tim Horton’s has lost a loyal customer, Barb loved nothing more than a bucket sized decaf ‘Double Double’ with milk and would drop anything to sit and chat with a friend over a coffee and a smoke. The plant world has lost a fabulous green thumb, with the police record stating her crops reached heights over 6 feet tall, her plant growing skills were unfortunately not passed onto her daughter Krysta. Air travel will be much easier for Krysta and her husband Wayne as they won’t have to worry about their luggage weight and setting off metal detectors because they are bringing back the coins and buttons she often demanded for her collections.
Barb will be missed by her friends (some who became like family), her brother George David Wordock, her son-in-law Wayne Menno Van Harten, her dog Koko and her one and only child Krysta Wordock who is grateful for all the things she taught her, for being both her mother and father, and most importantly how to not care what others think of you. Krysta was proud to call her mom.
A celebration of Barb’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com).
