ATKINSON, Barry Arthur – Passed away peacefully in his home with his loving wife, Rita and friends by his side.
Born to British parents in India on June 2, 1941. He started his career as an engineer where he worked all over the world, including England, Holland and Saudi Arabia. It was while in Holland that Barry met the love of his life, Rita, and this year they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Barry and Rita moved to Canada in 1981 where they bought and operated Anne Marie Fine Food which they ran as a team for 17 years. There they fed and catered to the city of Guelph with fine food and warm welcomes.
After “retiring” Barry went on to get his AZ license and drove Big Rigs with Rita traveling with him.
Barry is survived by his wife Rita, two brothers, their wives and children, and a multitude of friends that he called family. He will be greatly missed by all of them.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Hospice Wellington.
A tree will be planted in memory of Barry A. Atkinson in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
