Providing Cremation and Funeral Services to Guelph and Area since 1941.
McDOUGALL, Charles Ernest (Ernie) – In the company of his loving family, Charles “Ernie” McDougall passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on July 29th, 2022 at Guelph General Hospital.
He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 60 years Judi (née Uithof), his daughter Susan Palethorpe (Freddie), his son David (Jillian) and 3 beautiful grandchildren, Emily, Carlie & Eli.
Ernie was born in Guelph in July of 1943 and although he travelled extensively for work with Bell Canada and Nortel over his 38 year career he always returned to his home base in Eramosa. The lot of the one room schoolhouse (Luttrell School) where he attended became our family home, located on the corner of the home farmstead, where he was raised with his 2 brothers Gordon, Harvey and 3 sisters, Marg, Ruth and Glenys. Ernie was the 6th child of Melvin McDougall (1902-1976) and Mary (Nee Austin) (1907-1998). Ernie was always close with his extended family as well as many other dear friends and for every one of them was only a phone call away; ever the Bell man!
Many thanks for the wonderful care that he received from Dr. Chan and the staff of 6 West and 5 West at Guelph General Hospital.
A graveside service will be held for the immediate family. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of the following:
Faith’s Orphan Fund or The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital.
A tree will be planted in memory of C. Ernest (Ernie) McDougall in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
