Catherine E. (Cathie) Pym

Catherine E. (Cathie) Pym
Date of Death: November 30, 2021

Pym, Cathie – 1951-2021

Peacefully, surrounded by her family, and on her own terms, Cathie Pym flew from the palliative care ward at Joseph Brant Hospital to somewhere over the rainbow on November 30. She is survived by her husband Jeff, daughters Jessica Pym (Rob Edwards) and Janet Pym; siblings Ruth Stevenson (Jim), Maggie Breau (Ian MacKinlay) and David Mitchell (Lisa Kirkpatrick), nephew and nieces, and many cousins.

Cathie was first and foremost a wife, mother and proud homemaker. She found her calling as a passionate environmentalist, signer of petitions, and author of letters to CEOs, newspaper editors and politicians. Everywhere she went Cathie made friends: from lifelong relationships forged and nurtured over decades to people she chatted with on the street.

Cathie lived with MS with grace and courage for 46 years, adapting to losses and doing everything she could to maintain her health and mobility. Finally, she decided she could not live without the dignity and independence that were the essence of her character.

Her family thanks Julie Riddle, Dr Mills, and the teams on 7S, 4N and 5N, for the excellent care she received at Joseph Brant Hospital.
