Christel Becker

BECKER, Christel – Passed away at the Guelph General Hospital on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.

Christel was born in Borkholzhausen in Germany. She had five older siblings. In the early 60’s, she came to live in Campebellville, Ontario with her husband Karlheinz. A decade later, they built a house in the village of Eden Mills on a property which they turned into a spectacular garden. The house and garden were a labour of love and Christel lived there for fifty years.

Christel was a knowledgeable and tireless gardener. She spent her summer days tending her flowers and bushes and trees. Christel also loved all wildlife, especially birds and always made sure her feeders were full. She loved her cat, Kalahari, as well as all the cats in the neighbourhood. Classical music was another great joy in her life and her evenings would often be spent watching and listening to a concert on DVD.

The Canadian Wildlife Foundation was very dear to Christel’s heart. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to that foundation would be appreciated.
