BONNIER, Dominique – It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dominique Marc Louis Bonnier at Georgetown Hospital after a long illness at the age of 74.
Born in France, on April 17, 1951, Dominique spent his childhood in Epinal, Paris and Orleans. After completing his military service, he began his working career with Schlumberger on the oil rigs in the North Sea. In 1973, he met Sandra in Aberdeen, Scotland. The two were married on April 3, 1975, and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Dominique’s work took them around the world including time in the USA, Indonesia, Saudia Arabia and Oman.
In 1987, Dominique and Sandra moved to Canada, where they made their home in Glen Williams, Ontario. After joining Parker Hannifin, Dominique’s work took him across Canada and eventually to Hong Kong. He retired in 2007, but continued to explore the world, travelling to Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. A man of many interests, Dominique enjoyed photography, go-karting, woodworking, model airplanes, and using flight simulators.
Dominique is predeceased by his parents, Marceau and Marcelle Bonnier, his grandmother, Madelaine Menuelle; and his brother, Claude Bonnier (Claudie). He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sandra, his niece, Isabelle Bonnier (Thierry), and his sister-in-law, Christine Ellison.
As per Dominique’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place, and interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph, Ontario.
