ISRAEL, Ernest George Helmut – Passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 after succumbing to complications from a neuromuscular disease at the age of 80. He was surrounded by family at Guelph General Hospital when he passed.

He will be dearly missed by his daughter Kristine Terpstra, son Jim Israel, daughter-in-law Nicole Israel, granddaughter Alexandrea Israel, and grandson Carter Israel. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann Israel, his sister Christine Israel, and his parents Helmut and Charlotte Israel.

George was born in Canfield, Ontario and grew up to become a mechanical engineer. He was particularly proud of his work on the elevator for the CN Tower, and the Boeing 767 airliner.  He worked for many years at SIHI Pumps (now Flow Serve) in Guelph until he retired. He also ran a Bed and Breakfast in Guelph with his wife Ann, called SugarBush B&B.  He was a devoted husband, father, gardener, sports enthusiast, stamp collector, chess player, and follower of Christ.

George’s family wishes to thank Guelph General Hospital, St Joseph’s Health Care, Dr. Eric Oh from Vista Medical Group, The Grand Quilt Guild in Fergus, and Koinonia Christian Fellowship.

Due to COVID restrictions, a small service will be broadcasted via Zoom at 11am on Saturday, December 4. Friends may join the Zoom call early at 10:30am to view a slide show about George’s life. Please access the Zoom by clicking this link.
