ROHALY, Ernest Stephan – Of Rockwood, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 in his 87th year.
Beloved husband of Lillian. Loved father of Eric and Nancy. Grandfather of Jade and Dylan Reed.
He was passionate about jazz and other genres and styles of music. In his youth, he played the piano in a combo and big band called Harvey Lowe in Montreal. He belonged to the Hungarian Youth Club.
Loved good entertainment, dancing, cooking, good food, gardening, photography, and travelling. He was a man of many other talents.
Ernie spent his 33 years in Telecommunication, from 1957 to 1975. He worked for Northern Electric, progressing to Installation Supervisor, then he spent two years in the capacity with Northern Telecommunication on its Puerto Rico project. Returning to Canada in 1978, he joined Bell Canada, working as a Software Design Manager and Senior Engineering Associate until his retirement in 1994. He received a membership with Telephone Pioneers of America, Maple Leaf Chapter No. 74, for his years of service with Telecommunications.

A tree will be planted in memory of Ernest S. Rohaly in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
