When Peace, like a River, attendeth my way…
Herbert Neumann – Husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. On April 14, 2025, surrounded by peace, he left behind his “Sweetheart”, devoted wife, Edith, and children, Dieter Neumann (Kara), Evelyn Neumann, Martin Neumann (Carol), David Neumann, Jeff Neumann (Ellie). Beloved and proud Opa to Liesie (Charlie) & Jake; Suzanna McCarthy (Robert) & Adam McCarthy (Chris); Madeline (Thorn), Sam & Parker; Lexie (Jameson) & Jordie; and to greatgrandchildren Cole, Jack and Lilah. Survived by brothers Paul Neumann of Germany and Horst Neumann of Guelph.
From humble beginnings in Europe, he immigrated to Canada in 1956. Having been deeply impacted by a childhood lived under the cloud of World War II, he had deep compassion and commitment to giving a helping hand. Together with Edith, he established an enduring real estate company built on trust, honour and integrity in an era when a handshake meant everything. But his peace was always found while tinkering in his workshop, felling trees or digging ponds.
Our heartfelt thanks to Eric Rogers, faithful friend to the end, and to PSW Barb Bauman whose care and compassion was a personal mission. Our hearts are full of gratitude for the care, compassion and dignity found at Hospice Wellington and for the gifted Catherine Manning, who ministered in music in Dad’s final hours.
A private family funeral will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.
As Expressions of Sympathy in Memory of our Herb Neumann, donations to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated by the family.
Life is precious… hug someone you love and embrace every day.
A tree will be planted in memory of Herbert Neumann in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
