MERRETT, Jean Anne Smith

It is with profound sadness that the Merrett family announces the passing of Jean Merrett, at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Guelph, Ontario on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021 in her 92nd year.

Jean was the beloved wife of the late David Brian Merrett and the much loved mother of Liane (Neil) and Neil (Noriko). She was the proud grandmother of James and Ben.

Jean and David were both from Bristol, England and moved to Trenton, Ontario in 1955. Jean was a true reflection of her British origins, speaking with a lovely soft accent. She enjoyed puttering in her English garden and being outdoors. Friends were always welcome and a visit to her home would not be complete without a cup of tea and a biscuit. Her love of family created a home filled with happiness. Jean will always be remembered for her kindness, beautiful smile and positive outlook on life.

To all of the staff and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, the family thanks you for the loving care that was shown to Jean.

In keeping with Jean’s wishes, cremation arrangements have been made at Wall-Custance Funeral Home in Guelph. A private family service will be held at a later date. Jean will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, David, at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Trenton.

Online condolences may be left at Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel: www.wallcustance.com.

A tree will be planted in memory of Jean A. S. Merrett in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
