SORBARA, John Patrick
1931-2025
With broken hearts, the Sorbara family mourns the passing of John Sr. who passed peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital on Sunday June 8, 2025, at the age of 93 surrounded by his family.
Beloved husband to the late Joan (Cordes) and cherished father to Anthony, Tina (John), Marc (predeceased), David (Lynn), John Jr. and Sandy (John). Proud grandfather of Jason, Amanda, Nicole, Christopher and Brittney. Great-grandfather of Hank and Dean.
Predeceased by his parents, Michael and Celia Sorbara, and his siblings Ralph, Sam, Vicky, Duke, Dominic, Rosemarie, Chuck, Joe, Gloria, and infants Michael, Maryanne and Gloria.
Survived by sister-in-law Annabelle, and extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
John was an executive member of the Italian Canadian Club of Guelph, where he helped build a lasting sense of community and culture. He was known for his unwavering devotion to family, his love of baseball, curling, and a lifelong passion for horses.
John lived his life with purpose and strength. He was an honourable and humble true gentleman, and he leaves behind a legacy rooted in love, community and resilience.
The family would like to thank the personal support workers from Closing The Gap for their amazing care.
A memorial mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 98 Alice St, Guelph, on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 12:00pm. Interment will be held at Marymount Cemetery. Reception will take place at Italian Canadian Club, 135 Ferguson St, Guelph.
In lieu flowers donations will be graciously accepted to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Centre, or The Guelph General Hospital Foundation.
