Providing Cremation and Funeral Services to Guelph and Area since 1941.
PRENTICE, Katherine Doris Ann – November 19, 1963 – July 30, 2022
Kathy passed away with her family at her side on July 30, 2022 at Hamilton General Hospital as a result of injuries sustained from a recent fall.
Beloved daughter of Orma and the late Jim Prentice (May 2022). Lifelong inspiration to her brother Brian. Dear granddaughter of the late Eva and Gordon Prentice and the late Velma and Garfield McBride.
Kathy faced many health challenges over her lifetime, but always maintained a positive outlook on life. She always felt the need to help others face challenges similar to what she had to endure. She enjoyed assisting other stroke survivors through her volunteer work with the March of Dimes, Linking Survivors With Survivors project. She also volunteered for over 20 years at the Guelph St. Joseph’s Health Centre. In 2015 Kathy was a recipient of the City of Guelph Mayor’s Award for her volunteer service.
She was very proud of her independence. Was an avid Blue Jay fan and a dedicated Suduko player.
Her family would like to thank the many present and past staff members of Guelph Independent Living – Willow Place for the valued assistance that they provided Kathy over the years. Special thanks to Dr. Rosemary Danielli for her dedicated care over many years.
Visitation will be held at Trinity United Church, 400 Stevenson St. N., Guelph, on Friday August 5 from 10 – 11 am. Funeral service to follow at 11 am. A reception will be held in the church hall. Burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.
If desired, donations can be made to Guelph Independent Living or Trinity United Church.
A tree will be planted in memory of Katherine D.A. Prentice in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
