MEHLHORN, Kurt (Garry) – On July 8, 2024 Kurt Johannes Mehlhorn passed away at Hospice Wellington in the City of Guelph
Kurt or better known as Garry to those that knew him, was born to parents Edith Bohnke and Kurt Mehlhorn on January 16, 1956 in Hawkesburry Ontario. Garry grew up surrounded by the love of his four sisters; Bridget (John), Liz (Mario), Sindey (Patti) and Inge (Laura).
Garry had a lifetime career as a color paint specialist and was proud to have exceptional careers with PPG, Blackberry and Tiercon. If Garry had the chance to talk about his work, he was in his element. He will be remembered by his co-workers as dedicated, intelligent, and hardworking (maybe some would say he would work so hard it was to a fault).
Garry worked so hard because he enjoyed being the provider. He was the proud father to Gina and Michael Mehlhorn. 13 years ago Garry met the love of his life, his princess Lesley. Lesley joined Garry’s family with her children Cerys and Rhys who will treasure the time they had with such a unique man.
Lesley inspired and supported Garry to be the best person he could be. Garry’s children thank Lesley for encouraging Garry everyday. Lesley’s positive influence contributed to Garry’s longevity while battling cancer.
Garry will be deeply missed by his grandchildren; Kaydence, Zophia, William, Alexis, Olivia and Johnny and his fur babies Lucky and Stella.
Garry was known for his love of running (and recording his times and trying to beat his last time), reading, woodworking, knowing valuable and useless information and his dedication to making the perfect cup of coffee. His dry sense of humor and hit or miss sarcasm will be missed and carried on by his children.
Gina, Michael and Lesley would like to thank the angelic staff at Hospice Wellington for their unwavering kindness, compassion and understanding during this unexpected time.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to Hospice Wellington.
A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com).
A tree will be planted in memory of Kurt (Garry) J. Mehlhorn in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
