McKEE, Marion – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marion Ruth McKee (nee Cook) on August 23rd in her 100th year, in Guelph.
She is survived by her children Dr. Alex McKee, (Lorna) of Phelpston, Jennifer Chadsey, of Harrow, Sharyn McKee (Declan Whelan), of Guelph, son-in-law Greg Rice, of Midland and 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, David J. McKee, daughter Dr. Marnie Rice, son-in-law Michael Chadsey, sister Reita McCurry, brother Reid Cook and all of her McKee in-laws.
She was a long time member of East Plains United Church, Burlington and served as the Archivist/Historian. She was also very active in the Ladies Workshop, Golf, Badminton and Marathon Bridge. She organized the games at Burlington Gardens Retirement Home and loved playing cards. She was known in the family for her special cakes for all the kids and record keeping of EVERYTHING. The family cottage at Ahmic Lake was a big part of her life with Dave, and the family created so many great memories there. She was a good friend to so many.
We will be hosting a Celebration of her Life on Saturday October 14th from 1:30pm to 4:30pm, at East Plains United Church, 375 Plains R. E. Burlington.
In her honour, donations would be appreciated to East Plains United Church.
A tree will be planted in memory of Marion R. McKee in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
