Marjory (Marjorie) Chiasson (née Benkendorf/ previous married name King) of Windsor, Ontario, passed away peacefully in Guelph, surrounded by her family on September 11th, 2025, at the age of 79.
She will be dearly missed by her husband Blaise, son Steven (Shelley), daughter Rachelle (Tim), grand-children, Bradley, Hayley, Patrick, Jonathan, Mark and Laura and all her great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by all her bonus children, friends and every person who was drawn to her magnetic personality. She was predeceased by her daughter Angela King (Burns).
Marjory or more commonly known as Marj, or Marjie, was a true diamond who had many facets that reflected all the colours of the rainbow. She was not like anyone else you’ll ever meet. Marj never met a stranger; to meet her was to be her friend. She loved people and welcomed them into her heart. She was an independent, loyal, hard working woman, with a sharp analytic mind and an inspiring work ethic.
When she got to know Blaise, her second husband, she not only fell in love with him, she fell in love with his large family. She was welcomed immediately and she expressed deep appreciation for their love and support. Marj always put her family first as a devoted wife and mother. She wasn’t just a mother to Steve, Angie and Rachelle, she adopted many bonus children along the way. She adored and was proud of each and every one of her kids. Marj also adored animals and met many furry friends in her day to day. She was known to bring treats for them to show her delight in their companionship.
After being diagnosed with cancer, Marj received God’s message that her purpose in life was to continue to spread happiness and to extend kindness to everyone as long as she could. Her loss will be felt by all who knew her.
The family would like to extend extreme gratitude to the amazing health care professionals that cared for Marj; Dr. Stacey Hubay and the staff at the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, the doctors and staff at the Guelph General Hospital/Chemotherapy Clinic, Dr. Sid Brodovsky, the palliative team and Marj’s “Shower Ladies”, Dr. Kelly Wilton and all the other medical and support staff involved in her journey. They especially extend their gratitude to the team of beautiful humans at Hospice Wellington, who made Marj’s transition to heaven the experience she deserved.
A mass and celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date and cremation will be taking place.
If able, the family requests that you honour Marj by donating to Hospice Wellington or the hospice of your choice. Also to live your life like her, with joy, kindness and compassion. Make sure to love out loud and leave a little sparkle wherever you go.
An angel has gained her wings.
