Mary MacKinlay
June 8, 1932 – June 19, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Mary, on June 19, 2025, just four days after her 93rd birthday.
Mary will be dearly missed by her children Lynda (Derek), Nora (Eric), and Jim (Sandy), and by her grandchildren Jason (Kelly), Brittany (Greg), Kaylie (Luc), Devan, Lisa (Chris), Daniel (Megan), Joshua, and Amy and great-grandchildren Kennedy, Corey, Brennan, Lila, Connor, Alex and Desmond. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Murray. She is survived by her brother, Charlie. Fondly remembered by Scott (Venessa) and Sara (Nawaf).
Born in Petrolia and a longtime resident of Guelph, Mary spent many fulfilling years working at Ottawa Crescent Public School, where she touched the lives of many students and staff. Her strong spirit, generous heart, and boundless energy made her unforgettable.
Mary loved being surrounded by people and had a gift for friendship — her circle was wide, and her door was always open. Whether playing cards, heading to Southampton, or enjoying a game of bingo, she brought laughter and warmth wherever she went.
She came from a large, close-knit family—too many to name, but all dearly loved.
Her strength, kindness, and determination were an inspiration, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
We will be gathering to share memories and celebrate her life on July 19th, more details to follow.
