Neil McDougald (1947 – 2025)
With deep sadness, we share the passing of Neil McDougald, a passionate, hardworking family man. He passed away at age 77 at his home in Guelph, Ontario, with his devoted wife, Nancy, at his side.
Neil was raised on a farm in the tiny town of Tara, Ontario. He moved to the “big city” of Guelph to pursue education and open his own appliance repair business, which served the community for almost 40 years. Neil liked to keep busy. If he wasn’t fixing something or helping others, he loved to garden, fish and go camping with his family.
He was married to Nancy for over 50 years. He is survived by his children: Teresa, Scot, Amy, Chad, Meghan, 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at Wall-Custance Funeral Home, 206 Norfolk Street, Guelph on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 11:00 am. Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.
The family requests that, instead of flowers, donations be made in Neil’s memory to Guelph Enabling Garden, Guelph Food Bank or a charity of your choice. Neil was a talented gardener who rescued many orphaned plants and was quick to share his harvest or preserves with everyone.
Neil will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He will forever remain in our hearts, and his humour, wisdom and hardworking spirit will live on through his family.
A tree will be planted in memory of Neil McDougald in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
