AYRES, SHEILA (née Keegan) – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Sheila Ayres on August 22, 2025, at the age of 86.
Sheila was the beloved wife of the late Jack Ayres, her devoted husband of 65 years, to whom she bid farewell on January 12, 2023. She was the proud and loving mother of April (the late Gerry), Carol (Ron), Janet (Ben), Jack (Kay), and Brenda (Roger), and is predeceased by her daughter Evelyn and her grandson, Dominic.
Sheila was cherished as “Nan” by her grandchildren: Dave (Sarah), Angela (Connel), Ryan (Penny), Mike, Linda, Karen (Sabatino), Robert (Katie), Gavin (Olivia), Brandon (Leslie), Cole (Sydney), and Paige (Brandon). She was adored as “Great-Nan” by Amelia, Evelyn, Olivia, Chance, Kaleigh, Madison, Caiden, Ava, Ayana, and Jaden.
She is predeceased by her parents Patrick and Robina, her brother Kenneth (Linda), She will be deeply missed by her sister Betty (Roy) and her sisters-in-law Betty (the late Alvin) and Joan (the late John).
Along with her husband Jack, Sheila dedicated her life to raising their six children. Nothing brought her more joy or pride than her ever-growing family. She was the heart of her family, their anchor, their comfort, their home. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on through all of them.
Visitation will be held at Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk Street, Guelph, Ontario N1H 4K3, on Monday, September 1, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. A Chapel Service to celebrate Sheila’s life will take place on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
