REISS, Sigrid (Siggi) Hildegard Else (nee Fischer)

March 23, 1940 – February 11, 2023

Passed away Saturday, February 11 at the age of 82. In the days leading up to her passing, she was comfortable and surrounded by the love of many family members.

She will be dearly missed by her husband George, daughter Claudia and son-in-law Oliver, son Chris and daughter-in-law Leslee, her granddaughters Nicole and Chantelle, and her great-grandchildren Maddox and Amelia, as well as her many relatives and friends from around the world:  Ontario, B.C., the U.S.A., Germany, Wales, Italy, and the Philippines. She is predeceased by her brothers, Rudolf and Rolf Fischer.

In 1967, Sigrid took a courageous voyage from Germany across the Atlantic, meeting the love of her life George.  Together, they fulfilled her dream of owning a house in Canada.  Sigrid was a vibrant and social lady who enjoyed parties and spending time with her big network of friends and family. She loved to keep up to date on all birthdays, anniversaries, and the health and well-being of those she cared deeply for. She will be remembered for her wicked sense of humor, quirky phrases translated from German, and her delicious baking and cooking.  She definitely knew how to throw a party, loved hosting them, and loved everyone who attended.

In honour of Sigrid, a celebration of life will be planned for later this spring where we will all join her in spirit and say PROST!  Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.

Memorial contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. 

A tree will be planted in memory of Sigrid H.E. Reiss in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.

COVID-19 UPDATE | STATEMENT: 

The health of those we serve, our employees and our guests is of the utmost importance to us, and as such, we are diligently following the directives of Canadian public health authorities and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario to keep everyone safe and well.

We have implemented the following measures to maintain the safety of both our staff and those that visit our facility:

• Enhanced and frequent cleanings, with particular focus on high-traffic and high contact areas.

• Hand-sanitizer is available in all high-traffic areas.

• Maintenance of physical distancing, both during visitations and services, and during our meetings with families.

• Ongoing communications with those that we serve to ensure that they are aware of the current Covid-19 status of our municipality and the accompanying guidelines.

We continue to rely on the advice provided by health experts and are committed to doing all we can to keep our community healthy.
