Violet “Vi” Ellen Dobberthien born February 19, 1932 in Guelph, ON to Fred and Florence Merry, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday April 18, 2025 at Riverview Gardens in Chatham ON.
Predeceased by her husband Roy, her infant son Ronnie, her brother Bill, her sister Doris, survived by her brother Chuck. Vi was a loving mother to Sue, Dave, Benny, Andy (Laura), and daughter-in-law Kim. Vi will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Ronnie, Ricky, Cory, Josh, Maggie, Chelsea, Johnny, Jordan, Dorothie, Joe, her great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Katrina, Cody, Anthony, Isaiah, Amelia, Kezia, and Lachlan, and her great-great-grandchildren Aaliyah, Maya, and Elliott. Honorary mother and grandmother to many many more. She will be missed by Trena, her furbaby and eternally reunited with her many previous furbabies.
Vi had a wide variety of experiences through her 93 years including some time farming near Ottawa, she worked in a pickle factory and sewing shop, and she cleaned houses privately. She loved Bingo, Country Music, camping at her trailer, and any and all animals. Vi would describe herself as funny, friendly, and easy going and those around her would agree, she loved everybody!
Special thanks to the staff of 3E at Riverview Gardens for their kind and compassionate care of Vi in her final months of life, she loved you all too!
