STICKLAND, David John – Gone peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ in Heaven, very early on August 23 with Gloria (nee Willison) his beloved wife of 57 years by his side. Loving father of Elizabeth (Paul) of Georgetown, John (Debbie) of Mississauga. Cherished grandfather of Kimberly, Lindsay, Jillian, Joel and Daniel. Survived by his sister Colonel Irene of North York and brother Al (Christine) of Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Dave will be sadly missed by a large extended family, great neighbours and many friends from around the world. We can hardly wait to see him again. Dave had a long career at Stelco, retiring as Chief Electrician of Parkdale Works. As a life-long Salvationist, Dave played in the band for over 60 years. One of his great joys was his leadership of bands and singing groups. Dave was fond of family gatherings, restaurant meals, generous helpings and photographing it all. He loved the adventure of the water, the road and the air as a pilot. After a wonderful journey through life, Dave has landed safe and sound for the final time. Thanks be to God for His special care. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, August 29 at 11:00 am at The Salvation Army Guelph Citadel, 1320 Gordon St. Visitation will take place on Thursday August 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Wall- Custance Funeral Home on 206 Norfolk Street, Guelph. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Guelph Bible Chapel or the Guelph Salvation Army Citadel would be appreciated.
