TUNG, Fu-Lai – Passed away peacefully at St. Josephs Health Centre, Guelph on Monday, January 29, 2024 in his 90th year.
Beloved husband of Yung Tei Tung. Loved father of James (Janet) Tung and the late David (Teresa) Tung. Loving grandfather of Matthew, Adam, Lillian, Clara, and Simon.
Born and raised in rural Taiwan, Fu Lai loved the rewards of hard work, family life, and celebrating together. After moving to Canada to undertake graduate studies, his lifelong joy of fishing helped with his transition to Halifax (Master’s) and Winnipeg (PhD). Fu Lai said his wife (Yung Tei) brought him luck and fortune, including sons David and James. After moving to Ottawa to work for the federal government, Fu Lai was an important member of the Taiwanese Canadian Association of Ottawa (TCAO), organizing events with his extended Taiwanese ‘family’. With his 5 grandchildren, Fu Lai always enjoyed watching their soccer, music, and dance performances. After any milestone or accomplishment, Fu Lai loved to celebrate with a large meal in the company of friends and family.
Cremation has taken place. Following a private interment, a Celebration of Life will be held at Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Ave., Vanier, Ontario on Saturday, June 8th, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
