WEBB, Dr. Ronald Brian – Passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on Monday, June 17th, 2024.
Ron was born on December 19th, 1946 in Toronto. He was raised there as an only child by parents Gladys and Bill Webb who loved him very much and equipped him to go into the world with love and curiosity.
Ron was the quintessential life-long learner and studied engineering before entering medicine. He loved the art and science of family medicine, but mostly he loved connecting with people and hearing their stories. Ron was an integral part of the Carleton Place medical community where he made deep friendships, mentored future doctors, and cared for his patients.
In the summer of ‘68, Ron’s life changed when he went to summer school and met the love of his life, Valerie. They arrived in Timmins for Ron’s first practice in 1975 with a 6 month old daughter and left in 1978 for Carleton Place, the proud parents of three children. This time was a joyful blur.
After close to 30 years of practice in Carleton Place, Ron and Val moved to Guelph to be closer to their grandchildren. They established roots in the community through their church and volunteer work. Ron was an avid ham and became a member of the Guelph ham radio community and also taught many kids to read at Brant Avenue Public School as a volunteer reading tutor.
Ron never sought to be the centre of attention and nevertheless became a hugely central part of so many peoples’ stories. He is already so deeply missed by his wife Val, his children Rebecca (Tim), Dan (Zucca), and Jessica (Jen). He could not have been a prouder grandfather to David, Owen, Tas, and Eleanor. His grandchildren knew how much he loved them because he showed them in so many ways. In his life, Ron became the big brother, uncle, father-figure, mentor, and friend that so many needed, especially to Val’s extended family.
Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Friday, July 12th, 2024 from 4:00-7:00pm and the family would love to connect and receive your condolences, your laughter, and your stories.
