BEALE, Margaret – It is with heavy hearts and thanksgiving for a life well lived, that we share the passing of Margaret Beale on Saturday, August 16th, 2025. She passed peacefully at Guelph General Hospital surrounded by love from her family, into the arms of those waiting in Heaven.
Margaret was born in Coventry England on October 22nd, 1940. She was the beloved daughter of Christopher Crosbie McGill (2007) and Janet Brown (1986), and little sister to Chris (2022). Devoted and ever loving wife for 59 years, and best friend to Thomas William (Tom) Beale. Loving mother to Linda (Brent McFadden) and Deb (Ken Phillips). Proud Granny to five fantastic grandchildren Emily (Ethan From) and Owen (Olivia Perschke) McFadden , Julia (Blake Smith), Erika (fiancé Adam Mitro) and Kyle (Julia Wilson) Phillips. She leaves behind many family, adopted family, and friends in Canada, England, and Scotland.
As a proud and eternally thankful wife, mother, and Granny, Margaret had a huge love in her heart for family and each one of them, with their own unique loving manner, talent, and dedicated enthusiasm for life.
After the challenge of growing up in the post war years, Margaret entered into the work force at seventeen, as the first indentured Female Technician Apprentice, at General Electric Telephone Works in Coventry, England. Margaret’s four year employment in this role led to doors being opened for many more females being allowed to enter this male dominated field.
After meeting Tom at the GEC, the couple married on April 12, 1966, and emigrated to Brockville, Ontario, where daughters Linda and Deb were born.
The creation of their family led to many volunteer opportunities. As a Lifetime member of the Wee MacGregors Highland Dancing Group in Brockville, Margaret loved to work with the dancers in their various charity and competitive performances. She made many a kilt from scratch. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Brockville, Margaret was first ordained as an Elder, and a passion for Pastoral Care grew out of this beginning. This continued in Guelph as Margaret would take on the role of Elder at Westminster St. Paul’s Church. She was proud to become a hospice volunteer and it became another channel for her service to others.
An avid all weather supporter of Highland Dancing, Soccer, and Hockey, Margaret enjoyed the sports activities of her children and grandchildren, urging them on to success. Their antics at the family cottage on Belwood Lake were also a great sense of joy over the years. The Guelph Youth Soccer Community was a large part of Margaret’s involvement as a young mother, as she worked alongside Coach Tom, as Manager of Deb’s Competitive soccer team.
As the Newsletter producer in three congregations, a love of writing evolved which led to a number of Hymns being written, with some acknowledged by the Presbyterian Church in Canada. The arrival of five grandchildren opened up new interests for Margaret, as along with Tom, she waited with anticipation to see the development of each one, into the wonderful individuals and family they have become.
Over the years a growing collection of frogs has attested to Margaret’s faith in God, and thankfulness to Jesus Christ for so many of life’s incredible blessings. This FROG legacy, Fully Rely on God, became cemented in Margaret’s life, and in the Beale family vocabulary.
Easy going and unflappable, Margaret overcame an initial Breast cancer diagnosis in 2007. Unfortunately, a metastatic recurrence in May 2023 proved to be an insurmountable challenge. She fought with great faith and courage. She is at peace.
Warmest appreciation to the firefighters, paramedics and the Guelph General Hospital emergency room staff. Your compassion and care for Margaret and her family will not be forgotten. To the cancer clinics at Grand River Hospital and Guelph General, we appreciate your guidance and support over the last few years. You made a difficult journey as easy as it could be.
