HILL, Shirley (née Johnston) –
August 14, 1934 – October 30, 2025
Passed away peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital on October 30, 2025, at the age of 91. Thank you to the hospital staff for help making her final hours comfortable and pain free.
Shirley will be remembered for her kindness, humour, and generosity. She was a longtime resident of Guelph and spent many years of her retirement volunteering with Victim Services, working alongside police and fire departments to comfort people in times of trauma.
Shirley had a large family, most of whom were along side when passing. She was the beloved mother to daughter Kim McKay and predeceased sons, Michael and Jeff Hill. She was dear sister to Nancy Story, and loving aunt to Tom and Jill (Pat). She was a cherished grandmother, aka Gertie or Granny, to Nikki (Jay), Terra, Jay, Jessica (Cole) Samantha (Scott) and Katie. A proud great-grandmother of Mikayla, Madison (Conrad) Rachel, Erica, Megan, Owen, Ava, Lena, Mitchel, Samuel, Meghan, Melanie and Destiny and an even prouder great-great-grandmother to Silas and Daniel.
Shirley’s warmth and compassion touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
