Campbell, Heather Jane (Anneveld)
November 23rd, 1952- October 29th, 2025
Our hearts are broken. Heather left us far too soon on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025 in her 72nd year, surrounded by her husband, two daughters and two sisters. Heather was diagnosed with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency at the age of 47. She refused to give in to the disease and faced every challenge with unwavering courage and determination. When she was first diagnosed, doctors told her she had only ten years to live — but we were blessed to share twenty-seven more wonderful years with her. We will forever be proud of Heather for her strength, her spirit, and her incredible fight.
With her passing, we have lost a wonderful wife, mother, gramma, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and colleague.
Heather cherished her family above all else. She and her husband, Rob, were soulmates — together since the age of fifteen — sharing a marriage built on deep respect, devotion, and an unbreakable partnership that truly lasted a lifetime.
Heather loved her two daughters, Becky (Mark) and Allison (Mike), with all her heart. The unconditional love and support she gave them were among her greatest gifts.
She also adored her only grandchild, Jane. Being “Gramma” brought Heather endless joy, and she left an incredible mark on Jane’s life through her boundless love, gentle guidance, and constant support.
Heather is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ted and Jane Anneveld, her brother-in-law Dennis Rea. She will be deeply missed by her oldest sister, Sandra Rea, and Sandra’s children, Kris (Brooke), Matthew (Laura), and Tyler Rea; as well as by her youngest sister, Debra Anneveld, and her children, Emma (Greg) and James (Rachel). The love shared between the sisters was, and always will be, forever.
Heather will also be greatly missed by her sister-in-law, Cindy Brooks, and Cindy’s children, Melissa (Mike) and Jon (Kristina).
“Auntie Heather” held a special place in the hearts of all her great-nieces and nephews — Amelia, Peter, Chelsea, Evan, William, Elsie, Hillary, Elliot, and Andrew. She was always so proud of each of them and their accomplishments.
We will always remember her lovingly as “Hez,” “Auntie Heather,” and “Darlin’” — the best aunt who never forgot to include Smarties with every gift.
Heather was born to sing. From an early age, she filled every room — and every heart — with music. She grew up singing and harmonizing with her sisters around the campfire, she sang in church and was also a member of “The Still Water Band”.
Heather had a special gift for listening and for giving the kind of hugs that made everything feel okay. Her compassion and warmth touched everyone who knew her.
Such a special person is so hard to lose, but we take comfort in knowing that heaven has gained a beautiful angel.
Heather left a note to all her family and friends:
“To my beloved family and dearest friends. It was my decision to not have a public funeral or celebration of life. They can be very emotional, sad and awkward trying to think of the right things to say. Perhaps you could pull up a memory in the comfort of your living room and raise a glass of your favourite beverage, as I have been known to enjoy the odd cocktail! You all mean so much to me. I believe in the power of the human spirit and just because I am not here physically, my spirit will be busy visiting all of you!! Love forever Heather ooxx”
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Hospice Georgian Triangle for their incredible support, compassion, and guidance. A special thank-you to Heather’s nurse practitioner, Lisa, and her nurse, Shelby — our angels — for the exceptional care, kindness, and comfort they provided. Their dedication helped make Heather’s final days peaceful and filled with dignity and love.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14th at Wall-Custance Funeral Home and Chapel. Visitation hours are: 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. 206 Norfolk Street, Guelph, Ontario
A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 15th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
In keeping with Heather’s wishes, the service will be private. However, we know how many lives she touched and how deeply she was loved. To honor that, we would like to invite friends and family to join us online to celebrate her life and memory together. Here is the stream link:
