DOWNES, Irwin Ricardo – Passed away at Louise Marshall Hospital, Mount Forest, on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the age of 63.
Loved father of Maja (Michael) Meeser, Samantha Downes, and step-children Tanya Sawyers and Jovan O’Connor. Loving step-grandfather of Aiyana Andrews, Donielle O’Connor-Mensah, Zanieya O’Connor-Small, Xyla O’Connor-Small, and Yves O’Connor-Small. Dear brother of Francess Downes, Cheryl Oliver, and Betty Oliver. Beloved Uncle of Leroy Myers, Nicole Downes, and Andre Downes. Also survived by his partner, Jane Landry. Predeceased by Andrew Downes (Brother), Yvonne Downes (Sister), Erline Downes (Mother), Andrea Downes (Niece), and Lemuel Oliver (Father).
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Irwin Downes, a beloved father, proud veteran, and deeply respected martial artist.
He served his country with honour and carried that same strength, discipline, and resilience throughout his life. A dedicated practitioner of Wing Chun and a 6th Degree Black Belt, he devoted many years to his art and embodied the values of patience, focus, and perseverance.
To those who knew him, he will be remembered for his strength, his presence, and the quiet wisdom he carried. He leaves behind a lasting memory in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his life.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and never forgotten.
