YOUNG, Audrey Miriam (née Blackmore) – Of Guelph, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 25, 2025 at the age of 93.
Born on January 20, 1932, in Toronto, Audrey was the eldest daughter of Albert Blackmore and Cecilia (Davies) Blackmore. She was the beloved wife of the late William Stanley Young, with whom she shared 51 wonderful years.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Audrey dedicated her life to her family, filling their lives with adventure and cherished traditions. She treasured family gatherings and ensured her children experienced a life rich with activities and travel.
Audrey was deeply involved in her community, giving her time generously to many causes like Meals on Wheels, the Evergreen Seniors Community Centre, and Trinity United Church, where she served in many roles, including president of the United Church Women. She found joy in knitting, playing cards, bowling, country dancing and square dancing, camping in the trailer, and sharing coffee with friends. A passionate sports fan, she avidly followed both local and professional teams. Audrey was also a gifted cook, known for preparing meals—whether for 6 or 206—with warmth and generosity.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Barb Mobley (Ken) of Lititz, PA; Doug Young (Sheila) of Ridgetown, ON; Bruce Young (Michele Wilson) of Caledon, ON; Laura Neubrand (Ted) of Bornholm, ON, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is sister Linda Tapper (Paul).
Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Stan, as well as her siblings, Irene Botter (Ross), Carol Wahl (Allen), and Keith Blackmore.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and friends.
