Carole MacNab
1935-2025
Faithful Christian, passionate Blue Jays fan, dedicated educator and enthusiastic traveller, Carole MacNab died at home on October 4, 2025. She was predeceased by her two sisters, and is survived by her nephew, Brian Forsythe of Pugwash, NS.
Carole was born in Malagash, NS and spent the first 25 years of her life in Colchester County. After completing her teacher education, she served for two years as Principal of a 2-room school in Malagash. From there she came to Burlington, where she spent the next 30-plus years as a teacher and language specialist in schools of what is now the Halton District School Board. In that career she helped many children, trained both teachers and volunteers, and initiated several programs that served students with special needs.
In her retirement years Carole devoted herself to crafts and hobbies: tole picture-making, ceramics and knitting. For many years she included dogs and cats in her household; once, she even adopted a baby racoon which enjoyed swimming in her pool. Carole loved to travel with her friend Shirley, to Europe, Australia and across both the U.S. and Canada.
She read widely and was an avid watcher (and collector) of movies. Her library included many books about Christianity, both inspirational and theological, which she discussed in Bible Study groups that she led. She served as a leader in her local congregation, and on the Synod Council of the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.
Carole will be especially missed by Jill Volpatti, Dianne Maia, Susan Culhane and Sandra Andersen and their families, plus many friends at Burlington Anglican Lutheran Church.
The funeral will take place at 11:30 a.m. on October 31, 2025, with a reception following, at Burlington Anglican Lutheran Church, 3455 Lakeshore Road in Burlington. Friends who wish to watch the service on Zoom can get the link by emailing the church at office@burlingtonanglicanlutheranchurch.ca.
