Date of Death: September 16, 2021

TAYLOR, Donald Christopher –

It is with sorrow we announce the passing of Chris Taylor.

Chris’s journey has come to an end. Chris always marched to the beat of his own drummer.

Chris was a passionate drummer. He followed that passion and joined the Guelph Royalaires Drum & Bugle Corps. He was a talented drummer who earned the respect of his peers along with numerous recognition, including winning the 1976 World Championship. Chris always had a pair of drumsticks, and kept his passion for music throughout his life.

Algonquin Park was Chris’s favourite place in the entire world. Some of his best memories are in the park’s interior with his family by a campfire or when he was solo tripping and dedicating himself to the PCI project, a detailed catalog of interior campsites.

Chris was a beloved father and grandfather. He is survived by his two children, Jonathan and Cassie, and his six grandchildren. The family is blessed to have many fond memories of Chris. His memory & wisdom will live on through his family.

Memorial visitation will be held at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 1-4 pm. Covid protocols are in place. Guests must sign up for a time slot by using this link.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Friends of Algonquin Park would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of D. Christopher Taylor in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
