CUNNINGHAM, David Clifton
February 27, 1941 to January 2, 2026
David Clifton Cunningham, age 84, of Wellington County, Ontario passed away due to natural causes on January 2, 2026 at St Luke’s Place Nursing Home under the loving care of the nursing home staff and his family.
David was born in Newcastle Creek, New Brunswick, on February 27, 1941, the eldest son to Group Captain Donald David MacCoubrey Cunningham and Ruth Lena Crawford Cunningham.
David is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 61 years, Janet Dean Cunningham, his son Andrew (Dr Lynn Handy) Cunningham and daughter Cheryl Cunningham, his grandchildren Shaun (Brandon Patterson) Cunningham and Abigail Billings, as well as sister R. Leslie Cunningham Forbes, several nieces and several great nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents GC Donald and Ruth, brother Harris (Mary Lynn Martin) Cunningham, sister Janice Cunningham, brother-in-law Terry Forbes and grandson Ryan Cunningham.
David was an active, busy professional in his career, and achieved many accomplishments through his nearly 60 years of work.
The family is grateful to the Cancer Program at Waterloo Regional Health Network, the staff at Guelph General Hospital, the staff at St Luke’s Place, and the many family and friends who helped David remain as independent as possible in his final years.

A local funeral service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026 @ 1pm at the Mount Carmel-Zion United Church in Morriston (Morriston United Church), 22 Victoria Street Morriston, Ontario, with a reception to follow. Donations in memory of David may be considered to St. Lukes Place, Cambridge, Ontario, The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital or a charity of your choice.
A tree will be planted in memory of David C. Cunningham in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
